about the classes
Mindful Yoga™
Mindful Yoga™ places an emphasis on practicing in the spirit of Classical Yoga, incorporating all eight limbs of Yoga, including breathwork, concentration and meditation. Mindful Yoga classes delve into each of the koshas (layers) of the individual body including the physical body, energy body, mental body, intuitive body, and bliss body.
Gentle Yoga
Gentle Yoga classes, also based on Classical yoga and incorporating all the koshas, does so through more gentle movements of the body, focusing on the areas we hold most of our tension; neck and shoulders, lower back and hips. We work through the body systematically loosening and lubricating all the joints to provide greater range of motion from head to toe.
"Keri is one of those transformational teachers who can give you a solid start on a rewarding lifelong path, or take you to the next level when you're ready. I was always very into fitness and dance, but I didn't really 'get' why yoga was such a big deal. Keri helped me see small changes I could make in the poses, which helped me make leaps and bounds in my alignment, and ultimately how deeply yoga affected me--not to mention increasing my enjoyment of practicing immensely. She was also the first to introduce the deep, calm stillness that a spiritual practice cultivates; her teachings are ones I use every day in my life, both on the mat and in everyday life, even years after first hearing them." Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a deep practice, going beyond the muscles directly to the joints, bones, and connective tissues to provide relief from pain and chronic tension as well as lubrication and flexibility. Yin postures are typically quite simple in make-up, mostly done on the floor, and are held for up to five minutes. During this time, the practitioner is asked to practice various pranayams (breathing practices), meditations, and contemplations, making it a complete experience and challenge for body, mind, and spirit.
Yin/Yang Yoga
Experience the best of both worlds, first delving into the feminine side of our bodies and minds (Yin) through the use of long-held, passive poses designed to cultivate mindfulness, spaciousness and Metta (loving-kindness) towards ourselves. Then slowly allow yourself to move into the masculine side (Yang) through active, muscularly held poses all the while maintaining our connection deep inside. This class will provide benefit and challenge for all levels of practitioners.
